Our Centre:
- We are a 47 place centre, for children from birth to school age.
- We are located behind Erindale College on Sternberg Crescent. In a tranquil community environment sheltered by gum trees and the best of nurture and nature.
- In 2010 Appletree House was successful in obtaining funding from ACT Health for the Kitchen Garden project. Appletree provides a variety of ongoing experiences and materials to develop children’s understating and education on healthy eating, through growing, harvesting and preparing food. Projects of growing seeds into seedlings and what time of year they are planted and harvested. Caring and nurturing plants so they can bear fruit, and assist with food preparation for their lunches and afternoon teas. We are constantly working towards sustainable practices within our centre and community. The centre has its own composting and worm farm, plus rain water tank to nourish the kitchen garden.
Our educators use in partnership with families The Early Years Learning Framework, a National framework which describes childhood as a time of belonging, being and becoming.
- Belonging is the basis for living a fulfilling life. Children feel they belong because of the relationships they have with their family, community, culture and place.
- Being is about living here and now. Childhood is a special time to just ‘be’ – time to play, try new things and have fun.
- Becoming is about the learning and development that young children experience. Children start to form their sense of identity from an early age, which shapes the type of adult they will become.
We provide a nutritionally balanced morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea each day. We can cater for individual dietary requirements and specific needs.

Type of Child Care Offered:
- We are a mixed model Centre providing long day care, permanent part-time with a minimum of 4 hours and up to a maximum of 7 hours, and occasional places from a minimum of 2 hours up to the whole day.
- Opening from 7.45 am to 5.45 pm Monday - Friday
