Emergency Relief

What we do.

Communities@Work administers Emergency Relief in Tuggeranong and Weston Creek on behalf of the Australian and ACT Governments.

Emergency Relief covers

  • vouchers for food and medical prescriptions
  • baby formula and nappies
  • bus tickets
  • Telstra vouchers.

We also offer information, advocacy and referral to specialist services.

Funds are limited so Emergency Relief is distributed on a first come, first served basis.

Who is it for?

Emergency Relief is for people in a financial crisis and who haven’t the money to meet basic needs.

How can I access Emergency Relief?

  • By visiting Communities@ Work in person at the Tuggeranong or Weston Creek Community Centres.
  • But as Emergency Relief is not always available, you may wish to Contact Us first.

How much assistance can I receive?

As a general guide, food voucher assistance is worth between $10.00 – $30.00.  For information on other types of assistance and the amounts you may receive, Contact Us to speak with a Support Worker.

What about crisis accommodation?

We can refer you to a crisis accommodation service provider.

What about help with transport?
